An innovative consultant role with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust sits at Portland House, Carlisle (CA1 1PY). This full‑time, permanent 10 PA Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry will provide senior medical input to community teams across Carlisle and Workington, with the freedom to develop special interests such as liaison or crisis work. You’ll play a leading part in community partnership projects including Hope Haven — a mental health and wellbeing hub for Whitehaven and Copeland — and contribute to exciting regional initiatives such as the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine. The post offers a competitive salary (£109,725–£145,478), up to £8k relocation support, generous study leave (30 days every three years), protected SPA time, flexible and remote working options, strong CPD, teaching and research opportunities, and extensive staff wellbeing support.
This role suits experienced general adult psychiatrists who are on (or eligible for) the GMC Specialist Register, hold Approved Clinician status and Section 12(2) approval, and have strong multidisciplinary, teaching and leadership experience. You will assess and treat complex and at‑risk mental states, work closely with families and carers in line with the Trust’s Carers’ Charter, and be committed to compassionate, culturally sensitive practice. The post is subject to DBS and requires current UK professional registration; GMC sponsorship is not available.
