An exciting Consultant in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology post at Birmingham Dental Hospital (B5 7EG) offers permanent work on a full-time or flexible part-time basis, with job‑share considered. Employed by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the role carries a Consultant grade salary of £109,725–£145,478 and closes on 13 October 2025. You will support both hospital and community radiology services, act as Radiation Protection Supervisor for the Dental Outreach Clinic and in‑house x‑ray bays, and work within a fully digital department seeing around 90–120 radiographic examinations daily. The post combines clinical reporting (including CBCT and ultrasound experience), governance, audit and incident management with leadership duties, liaison with Radiation Protection Advisors/Medical Physics Experts, and input to service and business planning.

This role is ideal for a GDC‑registered specialist in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology (or within six months of CCST) who enjoys teaching and service development. There is a strong emphasis on undergraduate and postgraduate education – you will act as an Educational Supervisor, participate in assessments and help develop a Higher Specialist Training programme in DMFR – and opportunities to collaborate on research with the University of Birmingham. The Trust offers a supportive environment with flexible working to suit carers and those seeking better work–life balance, clear scope to influence local training and patient care, and consideration for skilled worker sponsorship where required.
