Health Care Assistant – Paediatrics (Band 3) at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Ormskirk (L39). This permanent, part‑time role (26 hours per week, salary £24,937–£26,598 pro rata) involves delivering safe, compassionate, person‑centred care to babies, children and their families on the paediatric ward. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, undertake personal care duties, record patient information in line with Trust policies, support and supervise learners and junior staff under the direction of registered practitioners, and carry out practical tasks including manual handling. The post requires resilience and strong communication skills because you may encounter distressing situations and time‑critical tasks; an Enhanced DBS check is required.

Applicants should hold NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and have current experience in an acute hospital setting; paediatric experience is desirable but not essential. The role operates on a 12‑hour rotational shift pattern covering days and nights and will suit experienced carers or women seeking part‑time hours that balance family responsibilities with professional development. The Trust is rated Outstanding by the CQC, is recognised as a top employer in the NHS and offers accredited preceptorship and wellbeing support to staff, making it a strong place to build paediatric skills.
