This permanent, full-time Band 2 post (£24,465) suits people with a caring nature who want to work alongside theatre teams without clinical qualifications. You will escort patients between wards, departments and theatres, clean operating rooms and equipment, and move theatre and sterile services kit — tasks that require good manual-handling skills, confidentiality, a professional manner and the ability to work under pressure. No prior NHS experience is necessary; on-the-job training is provided and the post requires Level 1 literacy and numeracy (NVQ2 desirable). You should be comfortable working in an environment where there may be exposure to blood and other body fluids and able to follow clear instructions as part of a busy theatre team.

Royal Papworth is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, rated outstanding across the board by the CQC, and offers a supportive, values-driven workplace that celebrates diversity and development. The Trust asks all applicants to demonstrate its values of Compassion, Excellence and Collaboration and offers adjustments for applicants with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria; the role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
