Kirkby Health Centre, a busy GP surgery in the centre of Kirkby in Ashfield (NG17), is recruiting an Administration Assistant/Receptionist on a part‑time, fixed‑term (six‑month) contract of 20 hours per week across four days, with occasional Saturdays and the need for flexibility. This role pays £12.21 per hour and may lead to a permanent position. It suits applicants with at least two years’ administrative experience, good keyboard skills and GCSEs at grades A–C in English and Maths; previous medical administration is useful but not essential as full training will be provided. A DBS check is required and the postholder will work within a small, friendly admin team where patient care and professionalism are paramount.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, handling face‑to‑face and telephone enquiries, booking appointments, processing prescriptions and electronic referrals, typing letters and referrals, updating records, preparing clinic notes and managing routine clerical tasks such as scanning, audio typing and confidential waste disposal. The role also involves arranging transport, recording home visits and following practice procedures for follow‑up, confidentiality and infection control.
