Ultrasound Imaging Care Assistant Team Leader (Band 4) at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust — fixed‑term 18 months to cover maternity leave. Based primarily at Derriford Hospital with outreach to Cumberland Centre and the new Plymouth Community Diagnostic Centre, this hands‑on leadership role manages the ICA team across inpatient and outpatient ultrasound services. You will oversee day‑to‑day operational flow, produce and maintain rotas (including extended hours, evenings, weekends and bank holidays), ensure mandatory training and appraisal completion, and lead CPD/CME and career‑pathway development for staff. The post combines people management with practical patient support — from assisting sonographers in procedures and escorting patients to maintaining safety checks, DATIX investigations and stock control — all within a compassionate, safety‑first environment. Band 4 pay is £27,485–£30,162 and the Trust supports full‑time, part‑time, job‑share and flexible working patterns to help balance home and work life.

This role suits an experienced ICA/HCA ready to step into a senior Band 4 position: you must hold the Care Certificate (Level 2) and have demonstrable clinical and leadership experience (NVQ3 or equivalent desirable). You will be kind, approachable and confident handling HR processes, staff development, manual handling and patient care; assessor or ANTT trainer experience is an advantage. A DBS check is required and skilled worker sponsorship applications will be considered. If you care about developing colleagues as much as caring for patients and want a role that values flexibility and progression, find this vacancy on jobsincare.com and click the "Apply Now" button alongside this advert to submit your application.
