Senior Clinical Fellow - Thoracic Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' (Royal Brompton Hospital, South Kensington SW3) is a hands‑on, senior clinical role supporting consultant teams across preoperative assessment, operative work and postoperative care. You will lead daily and weekend ward rounds, provide night and ICU/recovery supervision when on-call, organise theatre lists, manage admissions and waiting lists, and supervise junior medical staff. The post is full‑time, fixed‑term (6 months), pays £73,992 pa and sits within the UK’s largest specialist heart and lung centre, offering exposure to complex elective and emergency thoracic work.
This role is for established thoracic surgeons with a minimum of three years’ pure thoracic experience, FRCS CTh (or equivalent), full GMC registration and entry on the specialist register (or within six months). The post has a strong academic and audit focus (PhD or equivalent expected), excellent opportunities to develop advanced skills such as VATS lobectomy and interventional bronchoscopy, and may suit clinicians seeking leadership, teaching and research experience in a supportive consultant‑led environment.
