Job summary
North Watford PCN are looking to recruit a LARC nurse to join their busy team, ideally to work 4 hours per week with some flexibility considered.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver LARC services - contraceptive implants, intrauterine device (IUD) and intrauterine system (IUS) insertions or removals in line with national and local guidance
- Ensure that a specified and clinically appropriate contraceptive procedure is conducted safely
- Provide a professional client facing service
- Provide appropriate advice and information to patients, and refer or signpost on where necessary
- Input clinical data onto the clinical system

North Watford PCN is made up of three GP Practices, Vine House, Abbotswood and Sheepcot Medical Centre.

Essential
- Complete a minimum of 2 hours CPD per year
- Recent experience of fitting a minimum of 12 IUD/S a year, including at least 2 different types and/ or 6 implant fitting procedures per year
- Knowledge of primary health care
- Knowledge and experience of working with young people and vulnerable groups including training
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise workload
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Qualifications
Essential
- Current UK professional registration
- Diploma of the Fault of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH)
- Subscription to relevant professional bodies
- A valid letter of competence in intrauterine techniques (LoC IUT) and in subdermal implants (LoC SDI) Evidence of re-certification
- Royal College of Nursing (RCN) equivalent accredited training
