Based with The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Trustwide, NE1), this Physiotherapy Technical Instructor role sits within the acute major trauma service and offers a hands-on, patient-facing opportunity. Working under the supervision of registered physiotherapists, you will independently manage a designated caseload of non-complex patients, assist with mobility assessments, provide equipment, run rehabilitation sessions and help patients progress their exercise tolerance and independence. The post is physically active and involves moving and handling patients using wheelchairs and hoists, strong teamwork across a multi-disciplinary setting, and clear communication with patients and clinical colleagues across sites such as the Freeman Hospital and RVI.

This role is ideal for experienced therapy assistants or carers with a technical qualification (for example NVQ Level 3) or equivalent experience in a care setting, good GCSE-level numeracy and literacy, effective organisational and IT skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development. The permanent, full‑time post is Band 3 (salary £24,937–£26,598) for 37 hours 30 minutes per week and requires a DBS check; a driving licence and experience with mobility or physical disability are desirable. The Trust is flexible about working patterns, supports lifelong learning and offers a supportive team environment — a particularly good fit for women seeking meaningful, stable work that balances career and caring responsibilities.
