As a Healthcare Assistant with County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust based in Peterlee (SR8), you’ll work within the Community Nursing team delivering planned and reactive care, including the Urgent Community Response. This permanent, part‑time Band 3 role involves hands‑on patient care — basic wound management, clinical observations, insulin administration and providing practical and emotional support to patients and families. Full training is provided and care tasks are scheduled by a registrant, with work across the Centre for Health at Whitehouse Business Park, community hospitals and patients’ homes for varied, meaningful shifts.

This post will suit experienced carers, HCAs and compassionate people keen to develop clinical skills; essential qualifications include NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with a Care Certificate or willingness to complete it within six months, GCSE‑equivalent English and maths, basic IT skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure. The role is subject to a DBS check; the Trust actively welcomes applications from women, disabled and BAME candidates and can consider sponsorship only in specific circumstances (minimum two years’ HCA experience with the Trust and visa conditions met). Salary is Agenda for Change Band 3, £24,465–£26,598 pro rata.
