Local role at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton (TA1) with Band 3 pay £12.75–£13.60
As a Bank Maternity Support Worker at Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton, TA1) with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust you’ll work alongside midwives to provide hands-on, family-centred care for women, babies and their families. Day-to-day duties include assisting with feeding and newborn care, carrying out observations (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, urinalysis), supporting admissions and discharges, preparing clinical areas and maintaining stock, and helping with essential neonatal checks such as weighing and blood spot tests. You’ll also offer health promotion advice, support breastfeeding, mentor junior MSWs and student midwives, and keep accurate records to maintain safe, personalised care.
This bank role (Band 3, £12.75–£13.60 per hour) suits compassionate, organised carers who value flexibility — you’ll be expected to cover a range of shifts including nights and unsocial hours and to have access to travel for bank shifts. Essential requirements include GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent), basic clinical competencies and a DBS check; NVQ3 in Healthcare is desirable or you can undertake it within a year. The Trust offers NHS benefits, pension, Blue Light Card and exclusive discounts, plus a weekly pay option via Wagestream for bank shifts. If you want a rewarding, supportive maternity role with real scope for development, click the “Apply Now” button to apply via jobsincare.com. More about the NHS
The National Health Service (NHS) is a cornerstone of healthcare in the United Kingdom, established in 1948 with the simple yet profound principle of providing healthcare to all citizens, free at the point of use. This revolutionary system aimed to ensure that access to medical services would not depend on an individual’s financial situation, a concept that has since become fundamental to British societal values.
