At Horton General Hospital in Banbury you’ll work as a Healthcare Support Worker (Band 2, Agenda for Change) providing hands‑on, compassionate care including washing, dressing, toileting, assisting with feeding and mobilisation, supporting clinical observations and helping registered nurses deliver planned care on wards such as Juniper. Full training is provided so no previous NHS experience is required; other duties include supporting end‑of‑life care, collecting specimens as trained, accurately recording care using electronic systems and maintaining a safe, dignified environment for patients, families and visitors. This is a permanent, full‑time role (£24,465 pa pro rata), is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check, and the advert may close early depending on application volumes.

This opportunity is ideal for compassionate carers — particularly women looking for a stable, meaningful NHS role, those returning to work or people wanting to formalise practical caring skills — who value team support, learning and clear routes for development within one of the country’s largest teaching trusts. Oxford University Hospitals operates a centralised recruitment process, so you only need to apply once to be considered for multiple roles across the Trust.
