Step into a high‑impact Consultant role in Adult Intensive Care at Royal Derby Hospital, part of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. This permanent 10PA post (full‑time; less‑than‑full‑time considered) is aimed at clinicians with dual CCTs in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia, or those within six months of CCT. You’ll work on a purpose‑built 20‑bed mixed‑dependency ICU (CQC rated Good) that admits 1,200–1,400 patients a year, supported by a 16‑bed Surgical Step‑Down unit, respiratory support and medical HDU, plus a strong Critical Care Outreach team and specialty doctor cover. The unit is accredited for advanced ICM training, offers dedicated office space and secretarial support, and features excellent echo capability (TOE/TTE), Echo PACS and a high‑fidelity simulation suite used for in‑unit training and a nationally advertised ICU echocardiography course. The anaesthetic sessions will be personalised with the Assistant Clinical Director to match your interests and service needs; middle‑grade and trainee rotas provide out‑of‑hours cover.

This role suits clinicians who want hands‑on intensive care practice alongside teaching, audit and research in a supportive, development‑focused environment. The consultant team of 12 offers varied clinical interests and mentorship, and the Trust provides leadership and professional development, a research‑active culture, and staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, discounted gym and on‑site fitness classes. The post pays £109,725–£145,478 per annum and the Trust is open to flexible working and to applicants requiring skilled worker sponsorship.
