in practice.General Practice assistants will operate under the supervision of GPs and at times other appropriately qualified clinicians.We are looking for a GP Assistant to join Huddersfield Road surgery, S70 2LT. Main duties of the job
Preparingpatients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basicreadings in readiness for the GP appointment.Arrangingappointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients.Extractingall information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes.Dippingurine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy.Sortingall clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signpostingsome post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.Completingbasic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approveand sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc.Supportthe GP with immunisations/wound care.Explainingtreatment procedures to patients.Helping the GP liaise withoutside agencies e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice orarrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultations.
