Job description
As a Maternity Inpatient Receptionist at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust based at Kingston Hospital (KT2), you will be the friendly, organised first point of contact for women, partners and visitors on the maternity ward. The role combines reception and clerical duties — answering calls with an excellent telephone manner, using IT systems (including Microsoft Office and local patient-record systems), booking and directing admissions, and liaising confidently and sensitively with midwives, obstetricians, anaesthetists and relatives. The post suits someone with GCSE-level education or equivalent and a secretarial/administration background, at least six months’ reception or administrative experience, strong written and verbal communication, good interpersonal skills and an understanding of data protection and confidentiality. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
This part-time, fixed-term (12 months) position is Band 2 under Agenda for Change, paid at £29,179 pro rata (including HCAS Outer), and offers a supportive, values-led workplace that puts compassionate, inclusive and collaborative care at its heart — ideal for women and carers who want a people-focused role near home in Kingston upon Thames. You’ll join a team that values sensitivity, practical skills and steady teamwork, with opportunities to build NHS experience and transfer customer-care strengths into healthcare.
