As a Qualified Health Care Assistant with Waltham Forest Federated GP Network, you will deliver hands-on clinical and administrative support across Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Havering from a base in Highams Park, London (E4). This roving, bank role (£16.95 per hour, includes HCAS) suits a fully qualified HCA (NVQ Level 3 or above, Care Certificate with all 15 standards signed off and at least two years’ experience in GP or hospital settings) who can travel for home visits — driving or riding a motorbike is preferable. On a typical day you’ll carry out phlebotomy and point‑of‑care testing (including anticoagulation clinics), chaperone patients, maintain infection‑control and decontamination procedures, update EMIS and other records, and help book and discharge patients back to GPs. You will work closely with GP/PCN care coordinators, social prescribers, Diabetes UK and care navigators to identify people lost to follow‑up and support those who are vulnerable, housebound, have learning disabilities, language barriers or concurrent mental‑health needs.
This role is ideal for carers and women who value variety, flexible hours and meaningful community work — you’ll provide lifestyle advice (smoking cessation, diet, weight management, exercise), make onward referrals (foot health, structured education, dietitians, weight‑management programmes) and help patients access wellbeing services. WF GP FedNet is a not‑for‑profit federation of 36 local practices, offering training, annual performance reviews and opportunities to develop professionally while working as part of a supportive team. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required. If this practical, people‑focussed role sounds like you, click the "Apply Now" button to proceed — you can also find the listing on jobsincare.com.
