Job summary
As aSchool health support workeryoull be working closely with our friendly and dedicated School Nurses, following our policies and procedures, to help deliver theHealthy Child Programme (519). Together, well support schools, families, and children/young people, helping them to grow, learn, and thrive.As part of Wiltshire Childrens Community Services, youll work both within our team and across partner organisations, building positive relationships and making a real difference in the community.Your role will include:Carrying out vision, hearing, and growth checks for children starting schoolSupporting theNational Child Measurement ProgrammeDelivering engaging health promotion activities and interventions for pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2This is a role where your care, patience, and enthusiasm can have a lasting impact on childrens health and wellbeing.This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week) term-time only opportunity that is based in Chippenham and the surrounding areas (rural). Driving to schools across the patch is required and therefore a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential.

Main duties of the job
In the role ofSchool health support worker, youll help support childrens health and wellbeing in schools across Wiltshire. Youll carry out growth, vision, and hearing screening for eligible pupils, following national and local guidance, and will be confident using LogMAR vision and audiology tests. Youll also contribute to the National Child Measurement Programme, working closely with schools to ensure smooth delivery.Youll work independently in school settings, following School Health Nursing standards, while maintaining positive relationships with staff and encouraging participation in screening programmes. Youll manage your own workload, keep accurate records, maintain equipment, and submit data on time.Alongside screening, youll deliver health promotion activities and small-group interventions, as directed by School Nurses, and support the wider School Nursing Team when needed. Youll use IT systems to record activity, communicate effectively with colleagues and partner agencies, and ensure resources are used efficiently.Safeguarding will remain central to your work, and youll keep your knowledge up to date through training, meetings, and supervision. Youll also welcome student observers to the role, adapt to changing needs in the service, and play an active part in team discussions and quality improvement.For a full list of role responsibilities and
