Senior Assistant Psychologist (Band 5) with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Hellingly Centre (BN27). This full-time, 12-month fixed-term post (with potential to extend) offers hands-on clinical work across two low and medium secure wards, supporting adults (18–65) with complex mental health needs and involvement in the criminal justice system. You will contribute to assessments (including forensic and neuropsychological measures), deliver and assist with individual and group interventions (DBT-informed and offending behaviour programmes), write reports, compile risk histories and take part in MDT and Psychological Professions meetings. The role sits within a supportive, multidisciplinary Psychological Professions team that values reflective practice, regular supervision from an applied psychologist, and opportunities to lead audits, service development and outcome evaluations — with scope to submit work for publication.

This post is suited to someone with a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) in Psychology and eligibility for the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, who has experience working with people with complex needs and delivering group or one-to-one therapeutic contact. You’ll develop forensic assessment skills, contribute to training, and use research and IT techniques for evaluation work. The position is subject to a DBS check; applications from those who require Skilled Worker sponsorship are welcome and will be considered. Enjoy working in a well-resourced service set in the Sussex countryside close to the South Downs, the coast and Brighton, with compassionate leadership and real scope for career progression.
